RandD > 2008.07.31 (Thu) - Good day at work, more design documents to work on... Sometimes I think we'll never get to write code! Went to lunch with Bobby, took a short Starbucks Coffee break with Rob toward the end of the work day. I got home and it was just Robin and I so we grabbed the camera and took off to check out the beaver tree. The tree was down but not by the beavers, looks like the city decided it was becoming unsafe so they finished the job with a chain saw.

We drove out to old Sacramento where we ate dinner at the Rio City Cafe. We ate out on the patio over looking the river, it was nice. After dinner we walked down to see an old replica of the Nina that had sailed here from Brazil. After that we wandered around, shot some photos, grabbed some ice cream and returned home just before Brandon.

While wandering Front street I saw our flag, it was backlit with the sun showing though and I thought it looked really nice so I grabbed this shot.

Here are the rest of todays photos.

Nice day,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.30 (Wed) - Slept late, drove in, work went well. Yesterday I was having issues getting CSLA and the ProjectTracker project to compile on my system. Today I asked for assistance and got pointed in the right direction. Amazing how that works, with the advice I was able to get it all working. I took off at lunch looking for photo opportunities but found none. After work I returned home about the same time Robin did. We got changed, grabbed a bite to eat, and took off with the camera for a nice walk around the neighborhood.

We live in an older neighborhood but the homes and yards are well kept. I wish we had the same green thumb that some of my neighbors do.

I grabbed this shot, then took off for my regular Wednesday night mens study. It was great, left feeling pretty good. Nice to get a good attitude adjustment now and then.

I returned home, posted my daily photo and now off to enjoy the rest of my evening with Robin and Brandon.

RandD > 2008.07.29 (Tue) - 4 wheels to work today, took the camera with me in hopes of catching the monster spider and web outside my office window but the landscapers came through and took him out again. He's started rebuilding again so maybe later this week. Work was work, took off after 8 hrs, Robin and I timed our arrival home pretty well.

We took off with the kids to Hollywood to rent a movie, then went to check and see if the beaver tree is still standing. It was. We were earlier than usual so the lighting was better and we got lucky with an early sighting. I had the 2x extender on the camera when i grabbed this shot. I lost my balance walking a fallen log and had to step into the pond to avoid falling into the water with the camera. The water is very mucky and my shoes are no longer white. I need to get a pair of waders.

Hope your day went well. I'm off to watch the movie with the family.

RandD > 2008.07.28 (Mon) - Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

I rode into work today, it felt good. It was nice and cool all the way in. The ride home was a bit warm but not too bad. We had Peyton for a while, I helped Robin cook dinner and Kayla arrived in time for dinner. We all hung out and enjoyed being together. I ran off to a my Monday night study.

On the way home the sunset looked so beautiful and I parked, grabbed the tripod and ran to the top of a hilltop to grab this shot, I then returned to my family. They were watching the end of a dance movie and Peyton started dancing to the credits, it was a beautiful end to a beautiful evening.

RandD > 2008.07.27 (Sun) - Nice day, Church was good, worship began with a guest band from New Zealand. (Parachute Band) After church Robin and I dropped by to see my Mom and Dad, after that we picked up the kids and then we hung out until Bri had to go home at 3PM.

Today marked the beginning of Shark Week on the discovery channel so we watched a lot of sharks. I took off at 5:30 to meet with a guy I am working with, returned around 8PM.

I had absolutely no motivation or inspiration for photos. I tried some shots with some chocolate chips but ended up eating them all before getting a good shot. In desparation, I grabbed something off my desk and shot it with the desk lamp for lighting. Sorry for the lack of effort.

Good night,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.26 (Sat) - Robin and I got up early so we could drive out to Rancho Seco to look for a daily photo. Well, it was a long drive but we did get some good shots. I had left the camera on ISO 1600 so the photos weren't the best quality. Oh well, I really liked this one.

After we got home we picked up Briana, ran out to see Kayla, Chris, and Peyton. We hung out for a while and then dropped B & Bri off at Sunsplash so they could go mini golfing. Picked 'em up, went back to watch the Beavers for a while and returned home so Brandon could oook the romantic dinner he had been planning for Bri.

It was a nice day.

Here are more photos from the morning, and from the evening.

RandD > 2008.07.24 (Fri) - I was bad, I said I would bike in but I drove into work. I don't know how many times I had to tell the Jury Duty story but the other two developers on my team were as tired of hearing it as I was telling it! I ended up working a long day, I brought dinner home for B. (3 guesses what and the 1st two guesses don't count)

After dinner B and I took off with the camera and went to watch the beavers. We sat around for nearly an hour and caught some good shots. There were at least 4 beavers hanging around and eating. A couple of them came as close at 10 feet. We think they are like the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, if you don't move, they can't see you! Heh..

Well, this was one of the better shots that I took. B took a few good ones as well, I'll post 'em later. Robin called at 9:18 to say she was on her way home, she got a little upset that we went and saw the beavers without her. She has the weekend off so we'll take her tomorrow now that we know the secret to beaver spying...

Until tomorrow,

Darron

RandD > 2008.07.24 (Thu) - Wrapped up our deliberation today, the case is over so I get to go back to work tomorrow! I look forward to riding in to work. Brandon had to work today while I was in court. The trial was a criminal trial, resisting arrest was the charge, 4 counts. The defendant was a lawer and decided to defend himself. Turns out that was probably not a good choice. The trial was interesting, not like TV or the movies, that's for sure.

After jury duty I took B out to look at the beaver tree, it is still standing. We forgot that we were supposed to watch Peyton, Chris showed up just after we took off. Oops. It all worked out okay.

Robin got home shortly after we did, we watched the end of a movie Brandon had started earlier. Robin and I were both tired so I decided to get a quick and easy photo in so that we could relax the rest of the night.

Sorry Kayla and Chris about the mix up, sorry we didn't get Peytee.

Until tomorrow,

Darron
RandD > 2008.07.23 (Wed) - Good day, defense wrapped up it's case and we should begin deliberation tomorrow! After jury duty I returned home to the family. I took B for a hair cut, Jen came over for a while, it was nice seeing her. She brought her friend Holley who seems very nice. We stayed in for dinner and then watched Peyton for a while so Chris and Kayla could go to the movies. I ran off for my regular Wed night book study with the guys and then returned home late but in time to see Chris and Kayla off then the four of us ran out to watch the beavers.

We sat silently in the dark an one of the beavers swam right up the the shore just 50 feet in front of us and began walking over to the tree when he spotted us. We could see his eyeballs looking right at us. Well, he was startled and jumped back in the water and disappeared.

After giving up on the beavers, we ran out to the Galleria mall where I grabbed this shot, then we ran to Sonic and we ordered some shakes before dropping Briana off at home at 11PM.

Hope you all had a good day!
