RandD > 2008.06.07 (Sat) - Lazy day, Robin worked and I got a few honey doos done around the house. Brandon mowed the yard without being asked to, I checked but he wasn't running a fever so I think he's okay. After Robin got home we thought about going for a bike ride but it was a bit too hot out so we went for a drive instead. We ended up out at Kayla and Chris's, Kayla was cooking (spaghetti) and we stayed for dinner, hung out, played with Peyton, then took off again. After we got back the car was covered in dead bugs, we couldn't believe how many bugs were out. We ran to the carnival we visited last night and I grabbed some shots. I'll post more tomorrow, it's past my bedtime. See you tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2008.06.06 (Fri) - Biked to work today, I had a pretty stiff head wind all the way home, it was a very good workout. Got home and showered, then watched the end of Evan Almighty with the family before taking off to a nearby carnival to get some photos. I didn't take one shot! Robin took a few good ones, I wished I could have posted one of hers but this is Darron Daily so I had to look for something to shoot. I decided to try the CD water drops again. I tired a different light source, a smaller tripod, and experimented with the light angle as well as the CD angle but was not satisfied with any of the shots. Robin is waiting for me in bed and I don't want to be up all night so here is the best of the bunch. Good night, Darron
RandD > 2008.06.05 (Thu) - Another very good day. At work we were treated to a BBQ, we had tables set up outside and we all spent the lunch hour hanging out. No shop talk, it was great. After work I dashed home and we watched Peyton for about an hour, then Robin and I decided to go to Cafè of India for dinner. From there we were going to run over to my parents house to fix Dad's printer but we saw a small car show going on outside of Mels Drive-in and we couldn't pass up the chance to grab some photos. We didn't have the camera so we had to quickly run and grab it. There were some very nice cars there, we spent some time chatting with one of the owners before we had to run off. We grabbed several shots, out of the ones I took I liked this one the best. (After some processing) When we finished shooting the cars, we saw my parents, fixed the printer, hung out a bit, then headed home for the evening. See you tomorrow, -Darron
RandD > 2008.06.04 (Wed) - John 1:16 After work today we all ran out to have dinner with the Anderson's' at what is now officially their new home. My Mom and Pop ("Gamma and Poppop") joined us as well as Briana. Jen had a prior commitment but she was there in spirit. We need to do this again and have my sister drive down from Chico. We enjoyed our time together, dinner was great but time spent laughing and loving was even better! After dinner we went out front to enjoy the beautiful evening. I grabbed this shot of Kayla and my Mom taking Peyton for a walk in her new front yard. I like that the shot has Peyton's Mom and my Mom in the foreground and her Dad and my Dad in the background. I almost picked this shot for the daily photo. I took more shots, I've posted them here if you are interested. What a way to end the day. -Darron
RandD > 2008.06.03 (Tue) - Work was work, the ride in was nice but the ride home was a bit warm. Arrived home in time to BBQ some burgers and dogs and then watch Peyton for a couple hours. We almost forgot to vote but made it to the poles with time to spare. While we were watching Peyton play in Jennifers old room I noticed Jens bookshelf with all her books. Jen loves to read, they looked lonely almost as if they miss her, but not as much as we do. We love you Jen, we look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2008.06.02 (Mon) - Well, the weekend was way too short and had lots going on after work today. Robin and I got a quick 6 mile ride in before I had to run off. After I returned I had to pick something quick for my DP so I could get to bed. (I go to bed early now that I am a grandpa). I decided to go with a macro shot of our other lens, I am really struggling for ideas today. Maybe tomorrow I'll be more inspired? Later, Darron
RandD > 2008.06.01 (Sun) - Well we had a good day, didn't do anything too exciting. It was a typical Sunday, church, shopping, and a dip in the pool. We did go to a nice picnic at Fair Oaks park, we 'ran into' about 80 good friends there and hung out for a couple of hours but didn't take any photos. After we got home I was running low on inspiration so I decided to try the "classic" CD water droplet shot that I've seen many times. I had the worst time. I don't know how the heck to do it. I wasn't happy with any of the attempts and I was tired and ready for bed so I picked the best of the bunch. Maybe someone could share some tips with me on how you nail this shot? RandD > 2008.05.31 (Sat) - We slept in this morning and after Robins wonderful waffle breakfast we packed up the bikes and took off to the river for our first ride together. We were going to start off fairly easy with a "little" 20 mile ride along the river but Robin was doing so well on her new bike that we kept going. We stopped in Discovery Park (mile 14) to eat our packed lunch and then continue on the rest of the way to Old Sacramento, turning around at the railroad museum. After we turned around we stopped and grabbed this shot of ourselves on the river. Then we sat and watched a young girl and her family play in a fountain, it was great! After that we continued back to Goethe Park where we started our ride. We made it back but 33 miles ended up being a bit much for the first time. We had a great ride and got a nice nap in after we got home. We are going to get a lot of nice rides in together! Take care, Darron
RandD > 2008.05.30 (Fri) - Today we got Robin her first road bike, she hates to spend money on herself but we have been wanting to be able to start biking together so I finally talked her into it. We got her this Trek 1.2 in white, it is a beauty. While we were there we got Brandon a new BMX bike, his last one got stolen, he promised to use his lock from now on and where the helmet (on his head) so I gave in. After our trip to Bob's Cycle all of us (myself, Robin, Brandon & Briana) ran off to Red Robin and met up with Kayla and Peyton for dinner before Robin and Kayla had to run off to meet some friends for a girls movie night out.
