RandD > 2009.04.18 (Sat) - Farewell It was a good day, we slept in a bit and had a slow start. We took off for Chris and Kayla's house before noon. We arrived and played with Peyton for a bit but then took off for Yuba City to hit Lowe's and Home Depot. We ate lunch while there, then returned and began working on getting the sprinkler system set up. We hooked up the manifold and the valves and then began connecting pipes and sprinklers. When we were done, we cleaned up and the girls started cooking dinner. I took off with the camera to find a photo opportunity for my daily # 365. I grabbed a few series of bracketed shots for another hdr and ended up with this after processing. Well, this was the last shot I plan to post in this gallery. It was a long rough year with many lessons learned and hopefully much growth. I plan to remain active in the S'Mug daily community, the coolest and most dedicated bunch of people I have ever run into. RandD > 2009.04.17 (Fri) - Long Road, Nearing the End [Day 364] Had a pretty good morning at work, we interviewed the last of the applicants for the two new development slots and all agreed on the two favorites right around lunch. I forgot my wallet, Rob and I took of for Burger King and he bought me lunch. Hit the drive through and returned to the office so we could get back to work. The afternoon went well, I took off a bit later than usual for a Friday. The drive home was terrible, traffic was very heavy for some reason. Arrived home to find Robin feeling better, Brandon and Richard cooked us dinner. We ate and then I took off to grab a daily photo. Craig had called to tell me about an old steam locmotive that had arrived in town this morning so I drove over to grab a shot. The sun was setting behind the train and I the area was fenced off and closed to the public until noon tomorrow so I headed west in search of a good sunset shot. The lighting was not the best so I framed my shot and did a bracket set from -2EV to +2EV at 1EV increments for a total of five shots and then returned home to process as an HDR image. I'm still getting the hang of the PhotoShop HDR processing but was pleased with the end result. I hope you all had a wonderful day, until tomorrow... RandD > 2009.04.16 (Thu) - Day 363 with no photo Had a good day, drove in. Bobby was out of town so I did lunch with the guys, Taco Bell again. Work was just okay today, had to take off a bit early to get home and take care of Robin. Made a stop at BelAir to grab her some soup and more Kleenex. I called Kayla to let her and Peyton know I would not be coming over. I fell asleep on the couch at about five and woke up about eight, I hope I'm not coming down with what she has. I wasn't feeling too chipper after my nap and hadn't taken a photo for the day so I am posting another shot from last night at the post office downtown Sac. Hope you all had a great day, until tomorrow... Darron
RandD > 2009.04.15 (Wed) - Last minute Rode my bike to work today, it had been more than four months but the ride went well. Work was okay, kept busy working on some security interfaces. Ate lunch at my desk, we sat in on an interview with another developer, he did pretty good. I took off around 4:15PM, I had a stiff headwind the whole ride home. Got back and my legs were mush. Had to go shopping for Robin, she is sick and had to buy juices, kleenex, Nyquil, and such. Man, getting sick is expensive these days! After taking care of Robin, I had to gather all the tax paperwork, write the checkes, and drive out to the Sacramento Post office to drop them off. I took the camera figuring I might find a good daily shot while there. I wandered around with the camera for about twenty minutes taking shots from all sorts of angles, I liked this one the best. RandD > 2009.04.14 (Tue) - Cliff side in April Had a good day at work, got in around the usual time, worked out some issues with some code from the day before. Paired up with Rob for a bit today, then back to debug some of my own code. The three of us went to lunch at Taco Bell, Rob's treat! Had a nice time hanging out with them but eventually had to return to the office. I worked late, first one in and last one out. The drive home was nice, I was driving north on Sunrise Boulevard and the sky to the west was blue and clear while the sky to the east of Sunrise was cloudy and looked very menacing. As I crossed the American River I noticed the end of a rainbow so I decided to go to the cliff overlooking the river to see if I could get the shot. After almost getting a parking ticket and then hoofing it up the side of the hill to the cliff I arrived to discover that my memory card was back in the car. I ran back to grab it and returned too late to catch the rainbow. There was a young woman sitting next to one of the old oaks playing guitar and working out the lyrics to a song she was writing. I was hoping she would stay there until the sun got low enough to reach her but she left before that happened. I grabbed several shots of the forming clouds and liked this one the best. (After some PP). Returned home to find two packages had arrived for me, a book on design patterns, and my new bike jersey and shorts. Looks like I'll be riding in tomorrow for the first time in months. Brandon just got home from work and Robin is waking up now so I am going to run. Hope you all had a great day, until tomorrow... RandD > 2009.04.13 (Mon) - Transmission Complete Got home from work and hung out with all the kids until they left for the movies, Robin and I drove over to West Roseville to go for a walk on a new trail. The walk was nice, we walked a few miles out and back, then hopped in the car and drove over to Fiddyment road where I grabbed this shot of the sun setting behind the transmission lines that run out of town. RandD > 2009.04.12 (Sun) - Easter Sunset "Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won't stay there." ~Clarence W. Hall Had a nice day, we slept in a bit this morning since we went to a late Easter service yesterday. I spent the first part of my day coding a side project I've been working on. We got a late start to Chris and Kayla's house, we stopped at Denny's to pick up the breakfast order we called in and took it to go. Got there and helped Chris some more on the sprinkler project. I made a run to Home Depot in Yuba City. I feel spoiled not to have a Home Depot just six minutes away! When doing projects at the kids house you must really plan out what you need since the hardware store is a 40 minute drive. My parents showed up, so did Corey and Jen. Chris had to take off for work at 4PM so we broke early from the project and then had an early dinner together. It was nice. After dinner we all hung out and watched Peyton while Kayla took a much needed rest. Being pregnant has really made her feel tired easily. On the way home we took a different route just for fun. I took the family off-road for a bit but they really wanted to get home so we hit the road again. The sun was setting and looked beautiful so as we approached Roseville I stopped to grab this shot. RandD > 2009.04.11 (Sat) - Oops again Took one but did not upload one. Not much to choose from so this is what you get. Had a great day, went up to help Chris and Kayla plan the sprinkler system for the back yard. Chris had already rented a trencher and just finished when we showed up. We all measured and estimated the sprinkler parts needed and made our Lowes run. Almost $300 later we returned with the materials. Robin and I had to take off, Brandon had returned early from his Fresno outreach so we boggied home to spend time with him. We ate dinner and then picked up Briana and took off for an 8PM easter service since we weren't going to have time Sunday. The service ROCKED! There were thousands of people all gathered to celebrate, the music was incredible! We sat in the bleachers with all the young adults and boy did we get noisy during worship. It was awesome, best worship service ever. Hope you all have a great Easter weekend, Darron

2009.04.16 (Thu) - Day 363 with no photo
